Café for Contemporary Art is proud to present The Machines of Liminal Grace, the first solo exhibition in a while for artist Grant Mercs. Featuring a touching series of drawings, the majority of which were drawn in the cafe, this exhibit embodies a conversation between the debilitating forces of loss and the generative possibilities made available in serial practice.
Anyone who might be about or on their way to Symphonia on the 17th is more than invited to join us for the opening reception, running from 5:30 to 7:30pm. at the café which is situated across from the Pinnacle Hotel at 140 East Esplanade.

Evan is a Lower Lonsdale resident, Cafca barista and serious cellist. Last year he was accepted to U of T, and he would like to either go there, Juilliard or another of the world's top schools. So, through what may become a bit of a series we hope to help him make his education a reality. Tickets will be $10 (available at the door).

This show is a multi-media and film project by Adrian Buitenhuis, an amazing young filmmaker from West Van (Horseshoe Bay area). "Highway 99", a follow-up to "Wood Fibre" (a 16mm film installation we showed last summer) explores the change in the texture of life that coincides economic changes in the Howe Sound area.

Moslem Mansouri is a father of Iranian underground cinema and an important film maker/cultural figure of the global Persian community. "The Final Word" is a 55min long documentary that features another important Persian cultural figure, legendary poet, Ahmad Shamlou.
